One of the benefits of not having Stella's dad in her life is the freedom to raise her how I please. At the end of the month I am taking my daughter to Nicaragua to meet her other great-grandmother. I don't have to worry about getting his permission, him signing off on her passport, or fighting me over when I can take her. My aunt had advised me to give Stella my last name and not put him on her birth certificate, I am so glad I didn't. Before you begin to judge, note that he denied her and has not been involved in her life one bit. Finding a doctor for me, a peditrician for her, ultrasound appointments, dr apt... I did all that on my own.
So now, Stella has her own passport and we are ready to travel the world!!!
